Mosaicollective is an interdisciplinary artist collective founded in 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal, by illustrator Elide Gramegna and musicians/pedagogues Kristina van de Sand and Elena La Conte. The collective explores the intersection of visual arts, music, and movement, creating poetic and immersive experiences for multi-generational audiences. At the heart of our work lies a strong commitment to ecological awareness, artistic innovation, and accessibility for young and diverse audiences.
Our debut production, “O Canto da Baleia – the Song of the Whale”(2018), is a participatory audiovisual concert on ocean ecology and imagination. It has been presented at major venues and festivals across Germany, Portugal, Luxembourg and Italy—including the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Kölner Philharmonie, Philharmonie Luxembourg, Museu das Marionetas, Festa do Intendente, and Festival NaviCelle. Alongside the performances, we offer educational workshops tailored to the ecological themes of each production.
In 2020, dancer and choreographer Bárbara Faustino and biologist Fabiana Esposito joined the collective for the creation of BZZZ, an interdisciplinary performance about the life of bees and the fragility of ecosystems. In 2022, eco musicologist Mili Vizcaíno joined Mosaico, contributing to the new staging of O Canto da Baleia as singer and guitarist and supporting with composition and lighting design in BZZZ. In 2024, actress and singer Margherita Lavosi became part of the team for the creation of Radikinas, a music theatre piece about underground life and root systems, inspired by the work of Maria Lai and Sibylle von Olfers. Mosaicollective’s work contributes to early audience development across Europe, combining high artistic quality with inclusive, participatory formats that nurture curiosity, emotional connection, and ecological awareness from an early age. All productions feature original music, diverse artistic forms, and low-footprint touring formats—aligning with our commitment to sustainability and artistic excellence.
“Mosaicollective is worthy of granting for several reasons: The company integrates light, visuals and dance to bring music to life for young ages, performed by outstanding musicians who love to be close to their young audiences while acting and playing. The musical experience is done in an extraordinary and impressive way.”— Lutz Köller, Music Education, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg
